Welcome to our Erasmus page. On this page you will find all the information you need about our Erasmus project, which involves our pupils having the opportunity to visit 4 different countries.
What is Erasmus +?
Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport, which runs from 2014 to 2020. Through Erasmus+, UK schools can access funding for life-changing international activities:
- Pupils can take part in international exchanges and study experiences: to develop new skills, raise their aspirations and gain vital international experience
- Staff can teach, train or job shadow abroad: to develop their professional practice, build relationships with international peers and gain fresh ideas
- Schools can collaborate with international partners: to drive innovation, share best practice, and offer new opportunities to young people.
Taking part is a great way to discover new ideas, develop new skills and to explore new countries and cultures. It is also an opportunity to drive innovation and improvements in teaching and learning.
“Erasmus+ is really special; being funded for a European project has changed the way our school works and transformed our outlook.” Flora Ellis, Project coordinator, Sherborne C of E Primary School
“Our dropout rates have significantly reduced and all our key target groups have benefited tremendously.” Andrew James, Head of Training and co-ordinator of Computing & ICT, Shooters Hill Sixth Form College
“You can be so isolated in a special school so it has been wonderful to share practice with others. We go somewhere and see something and think, 'we could do that in our school'. We’ve benefitted so much as a whole school.” Jan Oyston, Deputy Head, Ysgol Heol Goffa
Our Project - CREACTION
Come Reach Europe And Develop Talent In Our Nations
Our project aims at helping the schools involved afford new activities that go above and beyond their regular school curriculum.. We aim to develop subjects and skills taught at school, and explore new types of activities and projects.
This project will help pupils to understand that school can be a place where they can find self-fulfillment, where the main goal isn't to merely answer the expectations of society but to find who they are to understand what goals they wish to reach, and how to reach them.
Thanks to the use of innovative ICT tools, peer work and cross disciplinary activities which will include and encourage our pupils to try new activities, without fear of failure. They will become more self-confident about their own talents and skills, and more comfortable with the time spent at school. Thus, our schools will suffer less from early school leaving, school demotivation .
