This week’s wonderful wall of fame

The Wall of Fame is dedicated to the wonderful work and achievements of our pupils, and is presented in our weekly celebration assembly on Fridays.

Firstly I would like to begin by congratulating Declan in year 11 on his contribution to the Remembrance Service with his Cadets group last Sunday in Upton. He has made us all very proud and it was wonderful to see the pictures from the event. Well done Declan!

It has has been another busy week here at The Observatory School. Pupils have been working hard in all areas of the curriculum.

This week pupils had their weekly workshop from the LIPA students, and what a workshop it was! Our pupils have been working hard writing their own scripts and on Wednesday they began to act them out using a shadow screen. It was amazing to see and the screen was an effective way of performing. We are all looking forward to seeing their final performance in December. Well done to all those involved.

Teachers and pupils celebrated Anti-Bullying week with workshops and assemblies. This half terms value is 'acceptance' which links well to the event. Mr B gave a very good assembly on British Values and spoke about values from other cultures. It was a good way to how some people have different beliefs and celebrate different festivals. Thank you Mr B!

Pupils and teachers have also been lucky enough to take part in the annual Into Film Festival this week. Pupils from across the school have had a free trip to the cinema to mark the occasion and it was pleasing to hear how well our pupils have behaved on these events.

The list for our Erasmus trips has been finalised this week. We are all very excited about getting our project started and the opportunity for our pupils and staff to visit other countries. The first of the trips is in March and it is to Finland. All of the pupils attending the trip have been informed and a parent/carer meeting will be organised shortly to talk about the amazing project.

This week Robbie, Kelsie, Ellis, Cameron and Connor have all earned badges. Well done to you all!

On Friday we held a Behaviour Raffle. Pupils earned a raffle ticket for positive behaviours. It was great to see so many tickets by the end of the day, each representing something positive during the school day. Well done to Cameron and Coonor who were picked as winners from the raffle!

On Thursday Miss Kelly held a Lower School Mindfulness session in the hall. Pupils had beanbags and mats to relax and have some time for reflection. Mindfulness helps pupils and teachers to improve their concentration, attention, conflict resolution, and empathy.
