What an incredibly busy half term packed with so many events! It has been a brilliant half term, which has seen us firing on all cylinders! Thank you for all your support.

In September we welcomed our new pupils. We were all really excited to meet them and to return to school without bubbles! We welcomed 4 new classes in September from year 7 and key stage 2. The school certainly seemed a lot busier than it ever had done before. We also enjoyed seeing the new outdoor sensory equipment being used and enjoyed by the pupils across the school. As well as welcoming new pupils we also welcomed our new staff too.

We were very proud of our year 11 leavers too. With a set of excellent exam results behind them they have made an excellent start to their further education. We have had updates from the pupils who report that they are enjoying being at college. Callum and his mum got in touch with Mr Dickson to let us know how well he is doing. Callum is completing a Level 2/3 course in Science at Wirral Met College and he is really enjoying it.

We have also been very pleased that we have been allowed to plan and go on trips again! It has been such a long time since we were able to enjoy learning outside the classroom and we have certainly made the most of the new freedom this term. We have been to the safari park, horse riding, pumpkin picking and the art gallery to name but a few. Learning outside of the classroom is very important and after nearly 2 years without this luxury we have all been very pleased.

We held our School Council elections during Autumn 1 too. There was a buzz of excitement across the school during the elections. The pupils have taken this role very seriously and we have a brand new School Council. We are all looking forward to meeting and making positive changes across the school.

Pupils have made an excellent start to their curriculum work and this has been evident during our weekly celebration assemblies. It has been wonderful to see so many exciting things happening in classrooms face to face again! We have continued with measures in school to protect us from Covid-19 and the pupils have been very respectful of the rules and they understand why it is still important to keep everybody safe.

We have also been able to start our ‘socials’ again. During the lockdown and restrictions we were unable to mix bubbles so sadly our socials were very limited. We now have a full range of activities on offer including football, art, STEM, drama karaoke and weightlifting. It is very important that the pupils are able to join clubs and social activities to enable them to develop their social and communication skills. We are all enjoying being together again and doing the activities we have missed during the pandemic.

Overall it has been a very successful half term (and very tiring for the staff). We are looking forward to seeing what the next half term brings.
