Keeping Parents Informed

All young people with special educational needs should have their needs met. At our school, your views will be taken into account alongside your child’s wishes. You have a vital role in supporting your child’s education and we can help you achieve this.

On this page, we detail some of the ways we can offer you help.  Alongside this, you should be able to find most of the day to day information you may be looking for.

There is also a calendar on our home page which displays important dates and times of what is going on at school. We hope to see you soon – everyone is welcome at the drop-in parent group sessions or to lend a hand at the school fairs.

We recognise parents need to be informed and engaged if we are to achieve our mission of ‘Working Together to Achieve our Full Potential’. Please let us know if you think there is anything else we should be doing or sharing with you to reach this very important goal.

Adverse Weather Arrangements

If the school day has already started and we have to close due to adverse weather or another factor beyond our control we will keep all pupils here until we agree with you how the pupil will travel home. If we have decided to not open school on a particular day all parents will receive a text message about the time and date we intend to stay closed. You can also expect to find information on the home page of the website and on the school answer phone message. We also endeavour to broadcast information via local radio – Heart FM, Radio City and Radio Merseyside.

School Menu

Our school kitchen freshly prepares each meal to order. Freshly baked bread, seasonal salad, fresh fruit, organic yoghurt, semi-skimmed milk and chilled water are freely available at each mealtime. Please click below for more information.

School Uniform

Our pupils take pride in wearing their uniform – in fact, they helped to design and decide upon it. Pupils are expected to attend school in a clean and smart uniform each day. Please note that footwear must be black.  For team and individual sports, there is also a PE kit. Items can be purchased from the Wirral Uniform Centre in the Grange Precinct in Birkenhead. The Observatory School ties can be purchased from reception for £3.00 each. (Click on the image to go direct to the Wirral Uniform Centre’s website.)
