Weekly Update 03/03/2023

It was an absolute pleasure to see some of the pupils in their amazing costumes this week. Thank you to everyone for the effort that you went to for our Observatory School World Book Day.

Dates for possible further strike action
The school may be closed on the following dates:

➢ Wednesday 15th March

➢ Thursday 16th March

The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the union and the government over teachers’ pay not being funded and the implications that this will have on schools’ budgets. This is an issue for every school and is not specific to The Observatory School.

First Tech Challenge

The Observatory School’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) has been working alongside Faiverley Wabtec, a Wirral-based engineering company to design and build a robot to take part in the First Tech Challenge run by First UK in 3 weeks time. The team have been busy preparing the robot and everyone is excited to see how they do.

Lisa Kirkham – Careers Connect

You may have seen Miss Kirkham posting on our school Dojo page. Lisa is of external careers advisor and she works for Careers Connect. You are welcome to message Lisa if you have any questions about careers or college placements. We want to make sure that we have objective and personalised careers information and so we work with Career Connect. Career Connect is a charity with an outstanding reputation for providing high quality Careers, Information, Advice and Guidance for young people in schools and colleges. Lisa is currently in school once a week to have careers interviews with our upper school pupils.

We are now planning our interviews for the lower school (year 7 to 9) and will update you on this later in the term.

Celebration Assembly

It is a pleasure to present the Celebration Assembly every Friday and it is infact my favourite part of the week. It is wonderful to share all of the amazing activities and work pupils have completed over the week. You can view this weeks Wall of Fame below.
